A comparison of remotely sensed environmental predictors for avian distributions

چکیده

With greater accessibility and processing power from online platforms, summaries of remotely sensed data are increasingly used in species distribution models (SDMs). Comparisons the predictive these environmental variables could inform SDMs moving forward. We evaluated performance freely available Landsat as predictor sets for SDMs. Our objectives were to (1) compare single season built on mean values raw spectral bands, Tasseled Cap transformations, eight different indices, including NDVI, (2) evaluate gain with addition standard deviation, textural metrics, additional seasons, (3) continuous classified land cover (e.g., percent forest cover). statewide point counts build multi-scale 13 avian across Oregon, USA. compared each set based our objectives. Of Landsat-derived sets, bands had highest overall nearly equivalent Tasseled-Cap models. While gains deviations, seasons minimal raw-band models, appreciable single-index Classified performed equivalently band When is paramount, means strong predictors parsimonious essential, indices NDVI) greatly benefit information, such deviation.

Genetic classifiers for remotely sensed images: comparison with standard methods

In this article the eVectiveness of some recently developed genetic algorithm-based pattern classiŽ ers was investigated in the domain of satellite imagery which usually have complex and overlapping class boundaries. Landsat data, SPOT image and IRS image are considered as input. The superiority of these classiŽ ers over k-NN rule, Bayes’ maximum likelihood classiŽ er and multilayer perceptron ...

Environmental Public Health Applications Using Remotely Sensed Data.

We describe a remote sensing and GIS-based study that has three objectives: (1) characterize fine particulate matter (PM2.5), insolation and land surface temperature using NASA satellite observations, EPA ground-level monitor data and North American Land Data Assimilation System (NLDAS) data products on a national scale; (2) link these data with public health data from the REasons for Geographi...

A Comparative Study of SVM and RF Methods for Classification of Alteration Zones Using Remotely Sensed Data

Identification and mapping of the significant alterations are the main objectives of the exploration geochemical surveys. The field study is time-consuming and costly to produce the classified maps. Therefore, the processing of remotely sensed data, which provide timely and multi-band (multi-layer) data, can be substituted for the field study. In this study, the ASTER imagery is used for altera...

Georegistration of Remotely Sensed Imagery

DEFINITION Georegistration is the alignment of an unreferenced image with a geodetically (latitude, longitude, and elevation based) calibrated reference image [1]. In general, this process aligns two images (satellite is the most common, but is not limited to satellite images) and correlating the images to a physical location by examining a set of distinguishable points. Figure 1 shows an examp...
